Andaz Peninsula Papagayo, in collaboration with MÍRAME Fine Art, will present Andaz Art Week from December 22 to 29, 2024. This event aims to showcase the vibrant and diverse landscape of contemporary art in Costa Rica. Over the course of eight days, one of the resort’s studios will transform into a gallery featuring the works of over 15 established and emerging artists. Attendees can look forward to exhibitions, engaging artist talks, and interactive workshops, all designed to deepen their understanding of the country’s contemporary art scene. Furthermore, any artwork purchased during this time will contribute to Creciendo Juntos, supporting local communities.
This program encompasses a wide variety of artistic practices, ranging from abstract and figurative painting to textile art and sculpture. The artworks delve into themes related to the environment, personal identity, and material exploration, offering valuable insights into the evolving artistic narrative of Costa Rica.
Selected by MÍRAME Fine Art, the participating artists represent both traditional and modern approaches. Among them, Adrián Arguedas showcases paintings inspired by Costa Rica’s rich masquerade traditions. Textile artist Katrin Aason weaves traditional Latin American dyeing techniques into her creations, while Carlos Fernández uses natural pigments sourced from his farm to craft textured compositions inspired by nature. Eliecer Rodríguez takes a hyperrealist approach, juxtaposing everyday objects to reflect on the ecological impacts of consumerism.
