Broadway Jazz as a genre, can be traced back to 1900s, when it started to make an impact on New York City’s culture. It is often performed on stage and is a fusion of music, vocal and acts. Sassy and sensual singing, sultry hip rolls, smooth finger snaps, and playing instruments such as the tenor sax, trumpets, piano, drums and bass are among the features of this lively genre.
While sadly COVID-19 put stage performances on halt across the world, the creative artists and industry still persevere and remain productive – preparing materials for the first opportunity to hit the stages once age. And of course, even throughout such difficult time, artists and writers never seized to share their remarkable talents, productions and tracks with the public. Despite all the hardships and challenges, they put their music and songs out there to bring joy to the public, when they need it most.
One of those joyful and beautifully written songs for Broadway Jazz is, ‘When Calls the Heart’. This amazing upbeat Jazz song is written by Mosi Dorbayani, the famous Canadian songwriter, and it is arranged by talented Mikael Carnevali, and recorded by Laura Wright: A Jazz Song to Cherish Forever, the singing Diva from Las Vegas.

Laura’s performance of ‘When Calls the Heart’ is so smooth and genuine, which makes you feel the stage and even her presence in the comfort of your home. Her rendition talks to your heart, and makes you feel love is in the air.
The song starts with 48 seconds of dynamic musical intro for the big band and dancers to warm up the stage, before Laura snaps you away to a Heart-land – to a scene where an admirer expresses her innocent sentiment and affections.
