SOCO Construction Company has announced the promotion of Benjamin Perry from Senior Superintendent to General Superintendent. With an impressive 41 years of experience in the industry, he possesses a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of construction. This includes direct collaboration with clients, effective employee management, cost oversight, scheduling, quality assurance, safety protocols, and much more. “Ben is one of the preeminent builders in our industry,” said Matthew Lorenzo, SOCO’s President and CEO. “I am highly confident he will excel in this new role.”
Over the course of his career, Ben began as a laborer and gradually climbed the ranks to become a business owner, ultimately achieving the role of General Superintendent. He boasts extensive experience across various sectors, including residential, retail, higher education, corporate, and industrial fields. “Ben brings a unique talent by supporting our field teams in getting job sites up and running, along with its final push to the finish line,” said John Ernest, SOCO’s General Superintendent. “He is persistent and I believe we will benefit from having Ben in this position to support our teams and sites.”
Ben’s journey began in his childhood, nurtured by extensive experience in the industry. He grew up near an electrical contractor who became like a second father to him. Starting at around 13 years old, Ben learned the ropes by assisting with various tasks. His enthusiasm for hands-on work and problem-solving ignited a deep love for construction. He quickly realized that nothing compares to the satisfaction of transforming a pile of materials into a stunning structure.
Driven by this passion, Ben has successfully overseen approximately $600 million in completed projects. He remains committed to mentoring future Superintendents, serving as a key figure in our Apprentice Superintendent program. Renowned for his willingness to lend a hand, he is dedicated to teaching newcomers, no matter their position in the industry. His rich experience and lasting influence have rightfully earned him the title of General Superintendent. “Over the years, I had many people help mold and guide me into the person and leader I am today, from my first boss, Don Blasberg, to SOCO’s President and CEO, Matthew Lorenzo,” said Ben Perry. “These people taught me something that stayed with me. Life is a journey of small stories, trials, and tribulations, and when strung together, they make up who we are and what we know.”
