Whitney Witt’s favorite country is Iceland, a unique and captivating destination. Renowned for its safety and the warmth of its people, Iceland’s natural beauty sets it apart. The landscape features dramatic volcanoes, hot springs, geysers, glaciers, and countless fjords, creating a truly exotic and picturesque setting.
During one visit, Whitney was fortunate to witness the Northern Lights, a spectacular Aurora Borealis display made possible by Iceland’s northern location and dark winter nights. She captured stunning photographs of the green, red, and purple lights swirling against a backdrop of white.
Whitney and her friends explored the Seljalandsfoss waterfalls and river on the southern coast, formed by ancient volcanic meltwater. She spent hours walking along Reynisfjara, the famous black-sand beach on the South Coast, where powerful waves and basalt sea stacks create a dramatic landscape. The beach is also home to diverse seabirds, including colorful puffins.
Before leaving, Whitney visited the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, off the Vatnajökull ice cap, where she enjoyed watching seals sunning on the ice floes. This renowned glacial lagoon features sparkling icebergs and a lake with water that is likely over 1,000 years old.
Whitney’s Icelandic adventure left her with cherished memories, and she hopes more people will experience this fairy-tale landscape, whether during the endless summer days or the winter nights illuminated by the Northern Lights.
